The Victorian Auditor General’s Office (VAGO) is a critical part of Victoria’s integrity system. Independent to Parliament, VAGO ensures the accountability of the State Government through audits and assurance reviews of public sector agencies. To achieve this, VAGO annually conducts over 530 financial audits and numerous performance audits across a diverse range of portfolios including infrastructure, transport, health and social services, education, water, local government, insurance, justice, treasury and superannuation. We have two audit portfolios within VAGO: Parliamentary Reports and Services and Financial Audit. Our audit support function is split into the Office of the Auditor-General and Corporate Services.
What's the role?As the Governance Officer, you will support the Governance Manager by delivering high-quality governance, compliance, and corporate support services across VAGO. Working in a small team, you will deliver governance and compliance activities, manage correspondence and audit referrals and prepare high-quality analysis reporting for senior stakeholders.
You will be responsible for monitoring compliance and improvement actions, supporting the customer satisfaction survey program, and contributing to organisational improvement through targeted business improvement initiatives.
You will prepare well-written reports and briefings, maintain accurate records, collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation, and contribute to business improvement initiatives.
Strong judgement, attention to detail, analytical capability, and the ability to balance competing priorities are essential, along with a proactive, innovative, and change-positive mindset.

Experience and Qualifications:
• Tertiary qualifications in a field such as Business, Commerce, Governance, Project Management, Communications, Accounting, Social Sciences, Public Policy or a related discipline is desirable.
• Advanced proficiency and experience using the Microsoft Office suite of applications including SharePoint.
• Familiarity and experience with Power BI is desirable.
