About the Role
The Governance Advisor contributes towards integrity and strategic governance through ensuring compliance, conducting thorough analysis, and maintaining record keeping.
The purpose of this role is to provide high level administration, coordination and project support in relation to VRQA functions, governance systems and resources, and to the VRQA Board. The position is responsible for crucial planning, organising and high-level administration tasks related to Board appointments and membership, Board meetings and events, and internal corporate systems. The Governance Advisor works closely to support the Senior Governance Advisors

High level written and verbal communication skills, including outstanding attention to detail are a must. There is an important record keeping component to the role, including support to the organisation's Freedom of Information function.

The Department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority / Governance Unit
The Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) is an independent statutory body established under section 4.2.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (the Act). The VRQA is responsible for the regulation of schools, school boarding premises, providers of senior secondary and foundation secondary education, school sector providers that deliver courses to international students, home schooling, registered training organisations that deliver in Victoria or Victoria and Western Australia only, apprenticeships and traineeships and awarding bodies. The VRQA also accredits courses and recognises group training organisations.
The Governance and Corporate Services unit supports the VRQA's decision making processes and provides administrative support to the VRQA operations. This includes compliance management, Departmental and government reporting obligations, organisational development, records management, Board and subcommittee management and strategic and business planning and contributing to the agency's Freedom of Information processes.
