The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a General Manager, Major Offenders Unit, to provide a critical role within Major Offenders Unit, Sentence Management Division.
About the Business Unit
Sitting within the Corrections and Justice Services Group, Corrections Victoria (CV) operates Victoria's adult corrections system. CV is responsible for achieving the appropriate balance between a safe, secure and humane system while providing programs and services that seek to rehabilitate people through addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
The Sentence Management Division (SMD) sits within Corrections Victoria and consists of the following units:
The Major Offenders Unit is responsible for the effective management of the risks and needs of people in custody assessed as being major offenders and those in Long Term Management. The unit focuses on risk management and provides a specialist, enhanced focus on the management of people who comprise the most serious risk to the security of the prison and community (on release), and whose management has the potential to undermine the community's confidence in corrections.
About the Role
The General Manager is responsible for providing strategic direction to the unit and for the delivery of the day-to-day operations of the Major Offenders Unit. The position is based in Ravenhall and may require travel to a variety of Corrections Victoria facilities across the state.
