About the role
*This is a Fixed Term Position until 28th May 2027*
The Gender Equality Officer leads the ‘Our Equal Places’ program to increase the number of places across Victoria named after women. The role works with local councils, government partners and community organisations to deliver campaigns, manage funding agreements and support initiatives that promote gender equality in place naming. They provide guidance to naming authorities and the public on policies, legislation and commemorative naming processes, and help maintain the Victorian Register of Geographic Names (VICNAMES). Success in this role supports fairer representation of women in Victoria’s place names and strengthens collaboration across government, councils and community partners.

Qualifications and experience
You’ll bring:
