The Gardener will work collaboratively and in a professional manner to ensure that the environment is safe and well maintained. The Gardener is responsible for the regular maintenance, upkeep and ongoing improvement of grounds. Reporting directly to the Facilities Manager, the Gardener works to ensure that the grounds and all open spaces meet the ongoing needs of the School.
Maintain grounds and open spaces including but not limited to gardens, including weeding, fertilizing, planting and pruning.
Follow all Health and Safety policies and procedures. Report all known and observed hazards to the Principal.
Maintain garden equipment appropriately store garden implements and chemicals.
Individuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.

Rubicon Outdoor School is a specific purpose outdoor state school working with government secondary students. Rubicon comprises two campuses: Thornton Campus is located in the picturesque Rubicon Valley approximately100 km north-east of Melbourne, on the edge of the Great Dividing Range. The Nayook Campus, located near Neerim Junction at the foot of Mt Baw Baw, is approximately 100 km east of Melbourne in a bush setting. The school has a long history of excellence in teaching and learning in the outdoors. Rubicon provides teaching and learning programs within both residential, basecamp and journey based spaces and a history of consistent innovation and improvement in Outdoor and Learning Away practices. Students attend for approximately five days and live either; onsite as part of a residential program or with their group in the context of an expedition or basecamp program.
