The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking two Freedom of Information Officers to provide a critical role within the Governance and Assurance branch.
About the Business Unit
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer and stronger Victoria.
The Assurance directorate manages corporate policies for the department and its Ministers to ensure strong governance and service delivery. It is responsible for risk management, crisis and continuity management, internal and external audit, freedom of information, information and records management, archive and mail services, management of the department's electronic document and electronic briefing and correspondence systems, information privacy, information security, compliance, and committee operations.
About the Role
This role is required to process and assess FOI requests and provide expert advice to stakeholders regarding FOI procedures and prepare executive briefings and correspondence. Strong stakeholder engagement skills are required, in addition to the ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. The role may be required to work within and across different FOI teams and other business units within the department, to manage and coordinate FOI workflows and to ensure legislative compliance.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in the interpretation and application of the Freedom of Information Act 1982, or general experience in the interpretation and application of legislation
High level of computer literacy including a working knowledge of the full range of Microsoft Windows and MS Office applications software and knowledge of the electronic document and records management systems.
