The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Freedom of Information Officer to provide a critical role within the Assurance branch.
About the Business Unit
Corporate Services and Infrastructure (CSI) oversees and leads the key public accountability requirements of the department, including finance, asset management, procurement, risk management, audit, governance, performance reporting, climate change and environmental sustainability and statutory planning and related functions. The group also manages the governance and delivery of major infrastructure projects through the Community Safety Building Authority, and information and communications technology (ICT), including cyber and information security management.
Assurance manages corporate policies for the department and its Ministers to ensure strong governance and service delivery. It is responsible for risk management, crisis and continuity management, internal and external audit, freedom of information, compliance and committee operations.
About the Role
Freedom of Information (FOI) Officers process FOI requests for access to all documents held by the department including prisoner records, policy, finance and other departmental documents as required. The FOI Officer handles all aspects of processing FOI requests received by the department, including making decisions on access and will be required to inform and advise staff and members of the general public about FOI procedures. The role will also involve some FOI project work and delivery of training programs.
