About Us
The Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine (VIFM) is a leading organisation at the intersection of science, medicine and justice. We provide independent forensic medical and scientific expertise to support the justice system, deliver crucial evidence that underpins safe convictions and appropriate acquittals, and contribute to public health and community safety through education, and research.
Our work is complex and deeply meaningful. From investigating deaths reported to the Coroner, to supporting victims of crime and enabling life‑changing tissue donation through the Donor Tissue Bank of Victoria, VIFM plays a critical role in Victoria's justice and health systems.
What truly sets VIFM apart is our people and our culture. Guided by our values of Respect, Openness, Service, Integrity and Innovation, we foster a workplace where expertise is valued, collaboration is encouraged, and purpose sits at the heart of everything we do.
The Forensic Services Support team plays a critical role in supporting VIFM's Medical and Scientific Services through forensic transcription, records management, case administration and client service. Working closely with medical and scientific professionals, the team helps ensure the accurate and timely management of casework, report production and records systems that underpin essential forensic services.
As a Forensic Medical Transcriptionist and Records Officer, you will provide high-quality medical transcription services for highly confidential forensic reports while supporting records management, and administrative activities. This is a varied role in a unique environment that contributes to Victoria's justice system, public health outcomes and community safety.
Working collaboratively with a supportive and experienced team, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work while developing your skills in one of Australia's leading forensic medicine organisations.
You are a highly organised and detail-oriented professional who takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work. Resilient and emotionally intelligent, you are comfortable working with sensitive and sometimes confronting information and understand the importance of accessing support and debriefing when required.
You thrive in a collaborative team environment while confidently managing competing priorities independently. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you build trusted relationships with stakeholders and are committed to continuous improvement, service excellence and making a meaningful contribution to the work of VIFM.
