Role Description
The FOI Reviews Officer processes, and supports the processing of, applications for review made under the FOI Act. The position primarily assists in the handling of complex reviews, contributing to the efficient and effective operation of the review function in line with the policies and procedures established by the Information Commissioner. This position handles a broader caseload than entry-level roles, encompassing both complex and non-complex reviews.
The FOI Reviews Support Officer sits within the FOI Reviews function and contributes to OVIC's statutory responsibility to conduct timely, fair and impartial reviews of decisions made by agencies in response to freedom of information requests.
At the VPS Grade 3 level, the FOI Reviews Support Officer operates under the direction of the Manager, FOI Reviews and works within established procedures, guidelines and delegations. The position is required to exercises a greater degree of independent judgement and analysis than entry-level roles, and contributes substantively to the review function on behalf of the Information Commissioner.
