ROLE SUMMARY:
The role leads the Fleet Services function, overseeing fleet maintenance and administration activities and ensuring robust governance, performance management and continuous improvement across fleet service delivery. It holds accountability for fleet information and systems, ensuring data integrity to support compliance, reporting, audit requirements and informed decision-making.
A key focus of the role is strategic forward planning and business planning. The Fleet Services Manager contributes to fleet strategy, annual business planning, budget development and long-term asset planning by providing insights on asset performance, utilisation, risk and lifecycle trends. The role supports the development and implementation of fleet replacement programs and service delivery priorities, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives, funding constraints and operational demand.
The Fleet Services Manager leads and develops a high-performing team and works collaboratively with internal stakeholders, operational partners and external service providers to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable fleet outcomes for VICSES
This role may ‘opt in' to participate in the Asset Duty Officer roster, providing after-hours support to members experiencing fleet or equipment issues, including vehicle breakdowns.
This role may provide support to operational staff during major or declared operations. Additional work outside the span of regular hours, including weekend work, may be required to support volunteer engagement workshops and similar projects.

Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) is a volunteer-based emergency service. Our highly skilled and equipped Volunteers are trained comprehensively in a wide range of emergency environments. To minimise the impact of emergencies when they occur and strengthen the community's capacity to recover swiftly and safely, VICSES focuses on working with communities and partners in building resilience to achieve more aware, informed and prepared communities. We support them to understand their risk and the relevance of taking action before, during and after emergency events.
As the largest road rescue network in Australia we have specialist teams that provide a 24/7 response to road accident and trauma incidents. We assist Victoria Police in search and rescue operations, and play an important role in supporting the Country Fire Authority, Fire Rescue Victoria, Parks Victoria and the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action during major bushfire and emergency incidents.
