About the role:
The Finance Officer supports the Budget Appropriations and Operations Unit in delivering key functions relating to the maintenance and integrity of the Department's financial systems, including:
•reconciliation of financial systems
•calculating and processing journals for accruals and leave liabilities
•maintaining the General Ledger costing systems and Chart of Accounts
•producing monthly and annual working papers
•preparing budget journals in accordance with SRIMS requirements
•providing expert financial and budget advice to internal stakeholders
The role oversees the timely and accurate completion of complex account reconciliations, financial reports, briefings and other ad hoc reporting. It manages transactions using departmental corporate systems and whole-of-government financial platforms and identifies opportunities for improvement in financial processes and service delivery.
The Finance Officer liaises with a range of stakeholders and contributes to critical projects that enhance financial policy, standards and practices. The role supports informed decision-making through advice on financial risks, trends and solutions, and ensures compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and government directives.
