Finance Officer
- Salary: $79,122 - $96,073 (plus superannuation)

The Position
We are looking for a Finance Officer to support the Group Reporting and Operations team through various transactional, co-ordination and reporting processes. The role ensures the team delivers efficient and effective financial management services to corporate functions of the Department. The Finance Officer will be someone who can drive process improvements and fostering strong stakeholder relationships.
The successful candidate will exemplify collaboration and provide supportive engagement in daily tasks and interactions with colleagues and stakeholders.
Main accountabilities:
- Support the transactional activity of the Group Reporting and Operations team including:
- Timely processing of purchase orders and invoice payments, including the monthly invoices from the department's travel booking provider.
- Generating data sets and reports from systems to support the team's reporting deliverables including general ledger, purchase orders, debtors, budget and forecast data.
- Co-ordinate information requests from branches for various reporting requirements. This can include information about budgets, forecasts, contracts, cost recovery, and travel policy.
- Assist with timely and accurate cost recovery processing.
- As directed by management, to assist with any other ad hoc tasks as required.
- Respond to general inquiries and provide advice, guidance, and resolutions to address finance related queries from both internal and external stakeholders, maintaining high standards of customer service.
- Actively participate in service delivery within the broader Group Reporting and Operations team, contributing to collaborative efforts and supporting special projects such as system upgrades, process automation, or financial reporting enhancements.
- Continuously review processes to identify, recommend and implement opportunities for enhancing efficiency, reducing errors, and improving achieving the team's deliverables.
The Team
The position of Finance Officer forms part of the Finance, Investment and Procurement Branch, which sits within Corporate Services Group.
The Corporate Services group consists of specialist functions including finance, investment and procurement, performance and governance, legal and legislation, people and culture, information technology and workplace services and emergency management. These functions enable the department to operate efficiently and effectively and support the Secretary and Ministers to meet legislative obligations and responsibilities whilst actively supporting the department's portfolio groups and Ministers to create the conditions for growing Victoria's prosperity, building the productive capacity of our economy, and increasing participation.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have the following main skills and experience:
- Technical Ability: Demonstrated experience in finance functions within a government setting, with proficiency in using Oracle Financials and Microsoft Office suite including Excel. Strong understanding of relevant government policies, procedures and practices, with the ability to effectively apply them to ensure compliance and optimise financial processes.
- Detail focus: Observes fine details; Identifies gaps in information; Looks for logical sequences of information; Highlights practical considerations of plans and activities.
