1. Demonstrated experience in facilities management, maintenance or a related field, with the ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy.

The Facilities Manager is responsible for leading the management of the school's facilities, grounds and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) systems to ensure a safe, compliant and well-maintained environment for students, staff and visitors.
Operating with a high degree of autonomy, this role provides expert support and advice to school leadership on facilities management, risk, compliance and asset maintenance. The position combines hands-on maintenance responsibilities with the coordination of contractors, oversight of compliance systems, and continuous improvement of operational practices.
This role is critical within a specialist school environment, requiring a proactive and solutions-focused approach to maintaining safe and inclusive spaces that meet the diverse needs of students.
Working hours for this role are Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 3:06pm. Attendance outside of standard hours may be required from time to time. Attendance during school holiday periods is required.

Responsibilities for this role will include:
Facilities & Grounds Maintenance
Ensure all buildings, facilities and grounds are maintained to a high standard, are safe, functional and well presented, with all work undertaken in accordance with OHS requirements and Department standards.
Undertake a broad range of hands-on maintenance, repair and improvement works across the school site, including minor carpentry, painting, patching, basic plumbing repairs, furniture repairs, equipment maintenance and general upkeep of buildings and outdoor areas.
Perform routine grounds maintenance including mowing, edging, gardening, pruning, rubbish removal, pressure cleaning and maintaining outdoor learning and recreation spaces to a high standard.
Conduct regular inspections of buildings, grounds, plant and equipment to identify maintenance issues, safety hazards and preventative maintenance requirements, taking prompt action where required.
Respond in a timely manner to maintenance requests submitted through the school¿s online maintenance portal, prioritising urgent works and communicating progress to relevant staff.
Assist with the setup, pack down and movement of furniture and equipment for school events, classrooms and operational requirements.
Monitor and maintain school tools, maintenance equipment and consumables to ensure they are safe, operational and appropriately stored.
Coordinate and supervise external contractors where required, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and in line with school expectations and compliance requirements.
Support the maintenance of a healthy and safe working environment by following OHS procedures, identifying and reporting hazards, and actively participating as a member of the OHS Working Group

Source, coordinate and oversee external contractors, ensuring works are completed to required standards, within agreed timelines and approved budgets

Documentation Compliance
Ensure the school maintains compliant documentation with regards to chemical management, plant and equipment registers, safe work procedures and risk management plans
Regular Servicing and Inspections
Ensure the timely booking of all required servicing and inspections
Maintain accurate records of reports from servicing and inspections and upload to AIMS and EduSafe Plus as required
Undertake any follow up work as required by the outcome of these processes
EduSafe Plus and AIMS
Ensure all tasks required in both portals are completed and relevant documentation is uploaded as evidence of completion
Emergency Management

Coordinate servicing, maintenance and annual safety inspections of school buses
Ensure vehicles are maintained in a clean, safe and roadworthy condition
Undertake driving duties as required

CONTEXT
Located in Bundoora, a northern suburb of Melbourne, on two campuses, Concord School is a specialist school which caters for students with mild intellectual disability between the ages of 5 and 18 years. Students come from a wide geographical area and a diverse socio-economic background. The Watsonia Campus caters for students aged between 5 and 9 years of age. The Bundoora Campus caters for 9 to 18 year old students. Both campuses are situated in attractive, well maintained grounds with excellent facilities which include:

The school, with 160 teaching and ancillary staff, has a current enrolment of 420 students. Enrolment is dependent on eligibility criteria as determined by the Department of Education. Concord School supports integration into or from mainstream schools. Support services available to parent/carers and students include access to educational psychologists, speech therapists, occupational therapists and visiting teacher services. Intensive social competency programs also form part of the core curriculum across the school
Concord School is focused on student achievement and learning. Concord School is recognised as being a leader in the provision of education for students with additional learning needs and, as a specialist school, is highly regarded for its curriculum, learning technology programs and educational leadership.
The students are taught the mainstream Victorian Curriculum (Prep-Year 10) and VPC (Year 11-12) curriculum however the educational pathway of each student is specifically tailored, through the use of Individual Learning Plans, to meet their targeted learning needs. The students are supported through extensive resourcing, small class sizes of 8-12, education support staff in each classroom and specialised staff including a school nurse, occupational therapists, speech pathologists and student wellbeing coordinators.
Concord School has a high level of commitment to a curriculum which integrates learning technologies with best practice in teaching and learning in order to enhance educational outcomes for our students. The Discovery Centre, a technology rich learning environment, has facilitated opportunities for our students, our staff and for staff from neighbouring schools.
