Executive Treaty Coordinator
Work that contributes to better outcomes for First Nations Victorians
The Treaty Unit leads on the Department of Education's engagement with the Statewide Treaty process between the State and First Nations peoples. This includes coordination of departmental responsibilities relating to the Treaty process and increasing awareness and understanding across the department.
Your role
As the Executive Treaty Coordinator your role will be to manage the department's commitments in relation to the Statewide Treaty process. You will also support the department's input to the Victorian Government's response to the Yoorrook Justice Commission recommendations.
You will work with senior executives across the department and relevant business units to coordinate advice and approvals. You will act as the key liaison embedding the department's expertise and operational considerations into relevant processes and ensure alignment across key work.
About you
You bring proven experience working with First Nations people, groups and organisations and a strong understanding of historical and contemporary issues. You have strong knowledge of the Victorian Treaty process including legislation, agreements and frameworks, and of the Victorian Government's commitment to self-determination, as well as the Yoorrook Justice Commission.
You are confident navigating government decision-making processes, particularly whole-of-government mechanisms.
You will have a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, along with a well-developed knowledge of learning and development systems. A postgraduate qualification will be highly regarded.
