About the Role
The Executive Director, Safe Transport Victoria leads Victoria’s transport safety regulator, responsible for overseeing safety and regulatory outcomes across the state’s bus, marine and commercial passenger vehicle sectors.
The Executive Director drives a modern, risk-based and intelligence-led regulatory approach that protects the safety of Victorians while supporting a rapidly evolving transport system. The role ensures the regulator operates with integrity, independence and transparency and maintains strong public confidence in Victoria’s transport safety framework.
Working closely with responsible Ministers and government, the Executive Director provides expert advice on transport safety risks, regulatory performance and emerging issues affecting community confidence in the transport system, including the safety and security of women and vulnerable passengers.
As the public face of the regulator, the Executive Director also represents the organisation with government, industry, the community and the media, particularly in relation to major safety issues, incidents and regulatory decisions.
