About this position
The Executive Director, Ministerial provides strategic leadership and authoritative stewardship of the department’s ministerial, parliamentary and cabinet functions. The role ensures effective systems, processes and capabilities are in place to meet cabinet, parliamentary and public accountability obligations, and to deliver timely, high-quality and trusted advice to Ministers, the Secretary and senior executives.
The role leads a coordinated and proactive approach to ministerial services, cabinet and committee processes, parliamentary services, briefings and correspondence, PAEC preparation, and GIC and statutory appointments. It also leads high-performing teams and contributes to cohesive executive leadership across the People, Legal and Governance Group. The role promotes accountability, service excellence and continuous improvement, while building departmental capability to anticipate and respond to government priorities and parliamentary expectations.
The Executive Director works closely with Ministers’ Offices to ensure confidence in the quality, timeliness and coordination of departmental advice and services. The role sets clear expectations, resolves issues, and fosters constructive professional relationships across ministerial and departmental interfaces.
