The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking an Executive Director, Integrity, Policy Performance and Major Crimes, to provide a critical role within Integrity, Regulation and Legal Services.
About the Business Unit
Integrity, Regulation and Legal Services (IRLS) supports the Attorney-General and DJCS ministers and the department by providing legal, policy, integrity and assurance expertise. We work collaboratively with key entities across the just system and department to ensure work is strategic, relevant, holistic and people centric. The group supports 25 independent legal, assurance and integrity entities across the DJCS portfolio including the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission and the Victorian Liquor Commission. IRLS also brings together all policy, research and evaluation, service delivery and reform functions to the Casino, Gaming and Liquor Regulation portfolio, including Tobacco Licensing Victoria.
About the Role
Reports through the Deputy Secretary on portfolio requirements and group delegations.
Some of your duties will include:
- Lead the Integrity Policy and Performance and System Governance teams, which are responsible for supporting the Attorney-General with the integrity, accountability and transparency aspects of her portfolio, including portfolio oversight of the Independent Broad-based Anti-Corruption Commission, the Victorian Ombudsman, the Victorian Inspectorate, the Victorian Information Commissioner, the Local Government Inspectorate and the Public Interest Monitor, and the management of critical stakeholder relationships and processes supporting the courts and other IRLS entities.
- Lead the implementation of key government priorities including a Systemic Review into Police Oversight in response to recommendations of the Royal Commission into the Management of Police Informants, and reforms to support the Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture in Victoria
- Provide exemplary leadership, oversight and direction to staff undertaking complex work within a variety of portfolios to effectively promote a values-based culture of achievement, respect, and common-sense purpose in-line with strategic direction.
