Fixed Term VPS6 Executive Advisor role @ 0.50FTE available until 30/06/2026
About the Role
The Executive Advisor will undertake a fixed term project to progress the market approach for a replacement of the Victoria Police fingerprint and facial image capture systems. They will be responsible for engaging the relevant Victoria Police stakeholders, commercial vendors, and forensic science service providers to progress this procurement activity.
Key Accountabilities include:
- Provide timely high-level specialist advice directly to the Director and Executive Director on issues pertaining to the procurement process.
- Develop a market approach plan, technical specification requirements and other procurement related documentation with consideration of the requirements of contemporary fingerprint and facial image capture practices in forensic science and law enforcement. Foster and maintain constructive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Review and evaluate legislative and policy implications for forensic science and law enforcement practices related to fingerprint and facial image capture.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current internal and external issues and risks, and be able to respond, investigate and advise in a responsive manner.
- Contribute effectively as a senior member of the Forensic Services to ensure that Forensic Services delivers its targets within budget, implements its strategies and operates within the corporate policy framework.
- Provide the organisational leadership that supports the Director Forensic Operations and promote the Forensic Service's strategy and values.
Skills & Experience:
- Demonstrated experience at a senior level in the preparation and provision of responsive, clear and concise specialist advice, recommendations and solutions both verbally and in writing through effective research, negotiation and consultation with stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, maintaining and strengthening relationships at the most senior level of an organisation, internally and externally, with key clients and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated understanding, appreciation and awareness of the key issues impacting on Victoria Police, particularly within legislative, social, political, and industrial frameworks.
- Proven ability at executive support level to deliver quality operational and business outcomes in support of the operating environment consistent with the strategic direction of the organisation.
- Demonstrate the organisational values and consistent sound judgement and ethical behaviour in making and influencing quality decisions, developing innovative solutions, leading, managing and developing self and people.
- Proven ability to monitor client and stakeholder satisfaction and constructively manage stakeholder issues to ensure positive outcomes for the stakeholder and the Portfolios.
- A proven record of ethical behaviour and a demonstrated commitment to the Victoria Police Code of Ethics and Conduct and the Organisational Values.
Requirements and relevant information:
- Fixed Term VPS-6 position @0.50FTE available until 30/06/2026.
- Position is located at 31 Forensic Drive Macleod.
- A relevant tertiary qualification would be highly desirable.
- The successful candidate may be required to undergo and successfully obtain and maintain a National Security Clearance to the level determined by the Executive Director. To obtain this clearance applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
- The successful candidate will be required to provide a DNA sample (
buccal swab) for use in laboratory quality control procedures (elimination purposes only).
- The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
