The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Evaluation Officer to provide a critical role within Operational Performance and Reform.
About the Business Unit
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (department) provides a range of government programs and services which focus on improving community safety, victim services, regulatory services and crime prevention, and building strong collaboration across the justice system.
Corporate Strategy and Delivery (CSD) support the Secretary to lead and manage the responsibilities and statutory requirements of the department. CSD leads key whole of department functions, including corporate functions, delivery of the department's data insights, analytics and modelling function, savings and organisational transformation. It also provides oversight of the department's strategic and operational performance, with a focus on using data to inform system strategy, advice to Government and operational oversight.
Operational Performance and Reform (OPR) is tasked with supporting the Chief Operating Officer in leading the department's agenda in the delivery of justice and community safety services in Victoria by providing advice to the Secretary, the Board of Management and Ministers regarding the department's strategic and operational performance and efficiency. OPR takes a strategic approach to coordinating and leading reform work to improve the operation of the department and enable the organisation to deliver on its core functions for the Victorian community.
The Centre for Evaluation (the Centre) is the central point of evaluation expertise and knowledge providing the department with evaluation services across its diverse portfolios. These services include end-to-end evaluations of policies and programs, establishing evaluation and monitoring frameworks and tools, designing and delivering surveys, coordinating ethical research requirements for internal and external researchers, and a range of other consultancy services.
About the Role
The Evaluation Officer will provide support across these services, including the design and implementation of evaluation projects by undertaking quantitative and qualitative analysis and developing high quality written outputs to present findings. This position will work as part of a project team and developing relationships with clients and stakeholders will form a key part of this role.
