Position Benefits:
This position is an Education Support Level 1 ¿ Range 2, which has a starting salary of $56,580 per annum (1.0 EFT) as per the 2022 VGSA. (please note new proposed EBA is under review and if approved will see salary increases)
Our Education Support team enjoy the same school holiday periods as our teachers ¿ which is fully paid ¿ that¿s approx. 10 to 11 weeks holidays per year.
Education Support Professionals have the opportunity of creating a sustainable work/life balance with consistent hours and days during the school week (no weekends or after-hours duty).

About our School:
Brinbeal Secondary College is one of the newest 7 - 12 Secondary College in Melbourne¿s west. The school opened its doors to its first cohort of Year 7 students in 2024 to a purpose built, state of the art educational facility.
At present, the school has just over 800 students in Years 7 to 9 and will add an additional year 7 cohort each year until 2029 when it will become a 7 - 12 school.
There is great excitement in the community about our new school.
The school is situated in Melbourne¿s booming western growth corridor approximately 23 kilometres from Melbourne CBD and services the rapidly growing and aspirational communities of the highly sought after Grove and Grand Central Estates in Tarneit.

Administration and Resource Centre ¿ featuring modern design and dedicated wellbeing/allied health space with 6 individual therapeutic rooms.

Large Learning Neighbourhood ¿ featuring 14 general classrooms, multiple presentation and seminar spaces and an array of quiet and small group collaborative areas.
Performing Arts building
Large Community Hub ¿ features 3 indoor basketball courts and multi-purpose exercise rooms
Outside ¿ we have extensive outdoor sports courts as well as manicured landscaping that allows for multipurpose outdoor learning experiences.

The successful applicant will play a key role in maintaining the pristine nature of our new school.
The Day Cleaner will maintain the day-to-day cleanliness of the school, whilst taking a proactive approach to ensure both students and staff have access to clean and well-maintained facilities.
This position works from 7:30am to 3:30pm Monday to Friday (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break each day).
The position is paid during the school holidays, however there is not a requirement to work during this time, unless negotiated in line with the 2022 VGSA.
An education support class position at this range will perform tasks that are carried out in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction. This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students but must not include duties of a teacher as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students can be required individually or in groups up to 4 in controlled circumstances and where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
Certification and/or qualifications of up to three years can be required at this level (noting that Registered Nurse is not included at this level, the first level for which is Level 1 range 3).
A role at this range may include:
An education support class position at this range commencing at the base will initially be limited to undertaking routine tasks that are carried out under close supervision and direction. Work that carries some degree of independence will generally involve a limited number of tasks performed on a regular basis where priorities are clear, procedures are well established, and direction is readily available. Subject to any specific qualification and/or training requirement, an education support class employee employed in this range may be progressively required to undertake coordination, specialised student/teacher support tasks, or technical tasks as experience in the role is gained.
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
General
Ensure that the buildings and grounds are well cleaned, maintained, and presented (Complying with OHS and Department standards).
Maintain a healthy and safe working environment by following OHS regulations and being an active member of the OHS Team.
Participate in relevant training and professional learning.
Facilities
Take a hands-on approach in performing daily cleaning tasks whenever required which will include removal of graffiti, cleaning ¿ internally & externally.
Clean and freshen the student toilets and eating areas after each break and throughout the school day as required.
Vacuum and mop surfaces as required.
Wash, dry and fold sports uniforms, aprons, lab coats, first aid bedding etc.
Perform periodical cleaning of specialised subject rooms and the equipment ¿ e.g. microwaves, ovens, benches etc.
Respond accordingly to spills.
Assist the College in preparation for events by completing additional cleaning.
Regularly clean surfaces, such as benchtops, tables, chairs, locker doors etc.
Maintain the cleanliness of the staff centre.
Ensure preparation and workshop areas are in a clean, safe, and orderly condition at all times.
Respond daily to cleaning requests from staff and prioritise work in order of urgency.
Respond to any emergency situations in an appropriate manner and undertake such other duties as may be required.
Assist the school in maintaining a clean environment by collecting rubbish around the school grounds.
Remove graffiti and chewing gum as required.
Work in conjunction with contractors onsite to ensure appropriate cleanliness afterwards.
Provide regular feedback to the Facilities Manager &/or Business Manager to ensure standards are maintained and opportunities for improvement are identified.
Other duties as negotiated with the Principal.
