About the role:
Reporting to the Coordinator Environmental on Country Program the Environmental Protection on Country Officer is a member of the Aboriginal Strategy & Partnerships Unit, in the Strategy Division. The role will support the work of the Unit to continuing its delivery of the Aboriginal Inclusion Action Plan, and the successor Plan. The Environmental Protection on Country Officer role includes a responsibility to assist in the program design, planning, implementation, evaluation and project management. The role involves directly working with Traditional Owner Corporations and the Aboriginal Strategy and Partnerships unit to learn about EPA, the Environment Protection Act and support environment protection opportunities on Country.
In this role you will:
Under the direction of the Coordinator Environmental on Country Program, support project design, establishment and delivery of the Aboriginal Inclusion Action Plan, and the successor Plan.
Implement sound project management practices to achieve high standards of performance, accountability, collaboration, ethics, and integrity; undertake planning and reporting, and manage allocated resources and budget in accordance with organisational requirements.
Ensure project partners are engaged in delivery and informed about risks, issues and opportunities through effective project reporting.
Actively contribute to the development of a positive and high performing team culture, including by identifying and implementing opportunities to improve teamwork practices.
Skills and experience:
Demonstrated experience in working effectively with diverse Traditional Owner groups and Aboriginal communities.
Relevant experience and/or qualifications in cultural heritage, environment protection and/or related disciplines, is desirable.
Experience in project design, management and delivery.
Ability to apply relevant government legislation, regulations, reporting directives and procedures, to achieve optimal organisational outcomes.
