About the role:
The Engagement Officer leads and supports inclusive, high-quality engagement across Parks Victoria's projects, programs, and management plans, embedding a culture of engagement to inform better decision-making.
A key focus of the role is leading the planning and delivery of engagement, communication and partnership activities that support the proclamation of the Central West parks, ensuring local communities and visitors, Traditional Owners, stakeholders, and partners have timely and accessible information, and clear opportunities to participate in their management and enjoyment.
Legislation to create the first six parks comprises the Wombat-Lerderderg, Pyrenees and Mount Buangor national parks, the Cobaw and Hepburn conservation parks, and an addition to the existing Bendigo Regional Park. The parks are expected to be created by October 2026.
Reporting to the Engagement and Partnerships Manager – South West, the role delivers engagement and communications for complex, high-profile initiatives, while building organisational capability through training and best practice support. It ensures engagement activities are aligned with government frameworks and expectations. The role requires regular travel and independent work in rural and remote areas.
