About this opportunity
The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) is establishing a candidate pool for Elections Project Officers to support the delivery of the 2026 Victorian State Election, to be held 28 November 2026.
This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to one of Victoria's most significant civic events. As an Elections Project Officer, you will work in a fast-paced, high-volume operational environment, supporting the integrity, accuracy and transparency of election outcomes.
Upon applying, candidates will be assessed for suitability for the pool. If successfully progressed through the recruitment process, candidates will then be considered for fixed-term roles as vacancies arise across the VEC. Being placed in the candidate pool does not guarantee an offer of employment.
During periods of peak operational activity, particularly in the lead‑up to the election, employees may be required to temporarily work from other metropolitan locations, including election hubs. On occasion, travel to country Victoria may also be required, and this may involve overnight stays.
Why join us
At the VEC, we enable all Victorians to actively participate in their democracy. We deliver state and local council elections and promote public awareness and understanding of electoral matters.
You will gain valuable experience in large-scale election operations, complex logistics, and time-critical project delivery, while working alongside experienced professionals. The VEC offers a collaborative, values-driven workplace with a strong focus on integrity, inclusion, accountability, and service excellence.
A day in the life of an Elections Project Officer
You will support the delivery of election operations by helping teams stay organised and on track during busy, time-critical periods. Your role focuses on assisting with coordination, tracking tasks and actions, and maintaining accurate information that supports day-to-day election planning and activities. You will work closely with others, follow clear direction, and adapt quickly as priorities shift—particularly during peak election periods when legislative deadlines are tight, and work is fast moving.
