About the opportunity
We have an exciting Full-Time, Max Term (6 months) opportunity for an experienced electrical industry professional to join Energy Safe Victoria as Education Officer. Reporting to the Education Manager, you will help administer Victoria's electrical licensing assessment regime, develop and maintain assessment tools, audit approved assessment bodies and support the Continuing Professional Development program for licensed electrical workers. You will also work closely with apprentices, registered training organisations and industry stakeholders to improve training and electrical safety outcomes.
What you'll contribute
As an Education Officer, you will support the integrity and continuous improvement of Victoria's electrical licensing, assessment and training frameworks. In this role you will:
- Assist with administering the electrical licensing assessment regime, including recommendations for approving and auditing assessment bodies and assessors.
- Develop and maintain electrical licensing assessment tools, documentation and procedures.
- Provide advice to apprentices, employers, licence applicants, registered training organisations and other stakeholders on training and licensing assessment matters.
- Assist with excessive-attempt cases, assessment appeals, special consideration applications and complaints involving approved assessment bodies.
- Support the Licensing Assessment Steering Committee and chair or administer relevant subcommittees.
- Gather, analyse and report on licensing assessment results and related data.
- Develop and deliver professional development for approved assessors and presentations, seminars and educational workshops for industry stakeholders.
- Liaise with registered training organisations and other training and industry stakeholders to improve licensing, training and safety outcomes.
- Assist with the design, implementation, maintenance and auditing of Continuing Professional Development for licensed electrical workers.
- Investigate potential breaches of assessment rules and provide advice on training and assessment requirements for licensing outcomes.
- Contribute to apprenticeship safety programs, industry publications, committees and special projects supporting electrical safety and training.
- Other relevant duties as required.
To be successful
We're looking for an experienced electrical industry professional with strong technical knowledge, sound judgement and the ability to build constructive relationships across the training and licensing sector. To be successful, you will have:
- A current Victorian Electrician's Licence or equivalent.
- A current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or willingness to obtain one.
- Broad electrical industry knowledge and experience.
- Strong, current knowledge of relevant electrical legislation, regulations and safety standards.
- Experience auditing systems and processes to support compliance outcomes.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Victoria's apprenticeship training and licensing assessment regimes.
- The ability to plan and deliver industry presentations, seminars and educational workshops.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to manage complaints and complex stakeholder enquiries.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide advice, resolve issues and identify improvements.
- Strong advocacy and communication skills, including the ability to deliver authoritative licensing and assessment advice while maintaining effective stakeholder relationships.
- The ability to work independently, prioritise a complex workload and contribute effectively within a team of technical specialists.
- High ethical standards and the ability to identify and manage conflicts of interest.
- Computer literacy, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- A current driver's licence and willingness to travel to other work locations as required.
