The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Education Coordinator to provide a critical role at Corrections and Justice Services.
About the Business Unit
Located in Maldon, Tarrengower Prison is a Minimum Security Prison for women. With a focus on rehabilitation via individual case management, employment, education, training and the provision of programs.
Corrections Victoria (CV) is responsible for the management and delivery of education and training in Victorian prisons. The aim is to encourage the benefits and enjoyment of learning to the women while increasing their employment prospects and access to other socio-economic opportunities, once they leave the prison system.
About the Role
The Education Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the provision of educational services to women, within the unique operational environment of a correctional facility including Community Education, VET, on-the-job training and distance education.
The role has a focus on the day-to-day operations including timetabling of all education provided on and off-site, record keeping, administration, identifying local training opportunities and coordination with the local TAFE and other external education providers.
Understanding issues affecting the participation of people in custody in education and training is a core part of the role, and the Education Coordinator will provide leadership in addressing such issues.
