Range 4 is distinguished by broader management responsibility, particularly in the areas of finance, human resource and other support functions. Range 4 is responsible for managing a range of functions under a wide range of conditions, subject to the size and complexity of school operations.
Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction minimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.
Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
Coordinate wellbeing support and service delivery to the school community.
Deliver counselling, supervision, debriefing and case management services.
Provide risk assessments, safety planning and crisis intervention services to students and/or their families.
Work with the Allied Health team, Learning Centre Leaders, Leadership team, Student Wellbeing team and the Departments Student Support team to support staff, students and families.
Work as an advocate for students to ensure additional needs are supported.
Provide support to parents and encourage parental participation in school and community-based programs where appropriate.
Have an extensive knowledge of local service providers in order to facilitate appropriate and effective intervention, supports and referrals for students and/or their families.
Assist the Leadership team to identify, develop and implement opportunities that generate community awareness, student outcomes and engagement.
Attend and participate in relevant site meetings including whole school meetings, weekly learning centre meetings, fortnightly professional learning team meetings, weekly wellbeing team meetings and local welfare meetings.
Train, mentor and support staff to manage welfare issues, support student needs and foster student social-emotional learning.
Collaborate with staff to develop and deliver programs aligned with Youth Education to support building resilience and knowledge in areas of health and wellbeing.
Coordinate, deliver and support student leadership programs such as the Rights, Resilience and Respectful Relationships initiative, School Wide Positive Behaviour Support and Shared Leadership Program.
Liaise and collaborate working relationships with external providers including Municipal and Community Welfare Agencies, Department of Health and Human Services Victoria, Disability Support Agencies and networks.
Coordinate and ensure departmental protocols are established and implemented for students in out of home care.
Identify and implement opportunities to promote a positive school culture and maintain safe environment.
Promote and develop a sense of school pride within the wider school community.
Maintain effective communication processes and ensure case files are updated and stored in line with legislative and organisational requirements.
Provide regular reports to the leadership team including termly key performance and service delivery reports to the Assistant Principal of Wellbeing.
Individuals with qualifications and aptitude experience in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or equivalent.
Relevant counselling and working with young people with additional needs experience.
Registered Social Worker or Psychologist/ Counsellor desirable.

Warringa Park School is a specialist school located in Hoppers Crossing. The school population is drawn from the City of Wyndham and caters for students aged 5 to18 years who have a diagnosed intellectual disability ranging from mild to profound. Warringa Park is a P-12 school organised around the three stages of learning - the lower, middle and upper years. The Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) is offered in the later years. Our school currently has an enrolment in excess of 700 students situated over four campuses.
