Murrum Primary School is a new government school opening in 2026, located on wurundjeri country at 90 Elpis Rd, Weir Views, 3338. Murrum is the indigenous wurundjeri word for 'joeys'.
The establishment of this new school in the Melton community will support the increasing enrolment demand from a growing local population. Our location is unique in that the suburb has been developing over several years prior to the school opening, and is relatively close to the bustling CBD of Melton and therefore provides easy access to local community services.
Murrum Primary School will open with places for up to 715 students with enrolments open from Foundation to Year 6. Murrum PS is a Supported Inclusion School providing up to 65 place for students with a diagnosis of Intellectual Disability within the total enrolment. This provides a unique opportunity to open another local school in the Melton community that provides high-quality education for local students, strengthening the already established education provision in this growth area.
When open for Term 1, 2026, the school will include:
Murrum Primary School will be co-located with an Early Learning Centre that will provide long day and Three-and Four-Year Old Kindergarten programs, supporting families with care needs and a smoother transition to primary school.
The Victorian Government-owned centre will be run by Early Learning Victoria and will provide another unique opportunity of building a professional relationship that strengthens the learning of all students.

Murrum Primary School is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Education Support (L&HN) staff member to join our founding team.
As a Special Inclusion School, this role will be central in supporting students with social, emotional, health and behavioural needs to engage positively in their learning and school community.
Key responsibilities include implementing proactive behaviour supports, assisting with individual student learning and health care needs, which may include toileting, eating assistance and emotional regulation and engagement plans, and working collaboratively with teachers, allied health professionals, and families to create safe, calm, and dignified learning environments.
Experience working with students with additional needs including Intellectual Disability, medical needs and knowledge of School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) or similar inclusive behaviour frameworks will be highly regarded.

ROLE ATTENDANCE - The hours of this position are Monday - Friday 8.30 - 1.30pm
An education support class position at this range will perform tasks that are carried out in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction. This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students but must not include duties of a teacher as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students can be required individually or in groups up to 4 in controlled circumstances and where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
Certification and/or qualifications of up to three years can be required at this level (noting that Registered Nurse is not included at this level, the first level for which is Level 1 range 3).
A role at this range may include:
An education support class position at this range commencing at the base will initially be limited to undertaking routine tasks that are carried out under close supervision and direction. Work that carries some degree of independence will generally involve a limited number of tasks performed on a regular basis where priorities are clear, procedures are well established, and direction is readily available. Subject to any specific qualification and/or training requirement, an education support class employee employed in this range may be progressively required to undertake coordination, specialised student/teacher support tasks, or technical tasks as experience in the role is gained.
