Welcomer Red Cliffs Early Years Hub Role
The role of Welcomer Red Cliffs Early Years Hub is a community-facing position, focused on building trust, welcoming families, and creating a supportive, inclusive environment at the Red Cliffs Early Years Hub.
This role is a friendly first point of contact for families and individuals visiting the Hub, helping families feel welcome, informed and connected to what's on at the Hub. This role is designed to foster community engagement by greeting and connecting families to the Hub, facilitating outreach activities, and ensuring that families feel comfortable and supported. It involves creating a comfortable, stress-free space for families to engage with the Hub's activities and services, acting as a familiar and approachable face.
Connected Beginnings Mildura is a Commonwealth-funded initiative designed to improve the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, aged zero to school age, through a collective impact approach. We work closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in the Mildura LGA, drawing upon the strengths and knowledge of these communities to create positive outcomes for children and families. Our primary aim is to increase engagement for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families with health services and early childhood education and care.
Connected Beginnings Mildura works with local community to improve the lives of children through trust, respect and putting children first so that all children are loved and safe and feel it. Our work is deeply rooted in community engagement, and we prioritise ensuring that all community members have a voice in the programs we deliver. We strive to achieve that everyone is treated equally and with respect ensuring Cultural Safety and Cultural Practice are in every aspect of local organisations service delivery.
The Welcomer will play an important role in active outreach activities, assisting with events and activities, and can be a part of additional CB Mildura outreach activities such as Cuppa `n Yarn, the Volunteers group, and potentially the Nan's group and Deadly Dads group to help enhance the Red Cliffs Early Years Hub connections and to keep building that familiar face. The Welcomer's involvement will help ensure that families are connected to both the Red Cliffs Early Years Hub and the broader community. The Welcomer's presence in these groups/activities will help maintain a familiar face, ensuring families feel continually supported and integrated into the Hub and its outreach efforts.

Role Description
About the role:
The Welcomer will be employed by Mildura Primary School for up to 18 hours a week
The Welcomer will be based, most of the time at the Red Cliffs Early Years Hub.
The Welcomer will be a valuable member of the Connected Beginnings Team and report directly to the Director of CB Mildura
The Welcomer will need to hold a valid Victorian Working With Children Check and a Police Check.
There will be opportunities for professional development, including first aid training and other relevant learning offered through the CB team.
Key Responsibilities:
The Welcomer will:
Greet families, help them feel at home in the Red Cliffs Early Years Hub, and make sure they know about the activities and programs available and how families can get involved.
Be part of the Hub Leadership Group and help support family engagement
Work together with Red Cliffs families and local services to plan and run outreach activities and events in red Cliffs which help to create awareness of the Hub and encourage new families to connect with the Hub
Build strong relationships with local services that operate from the Hub, like Maternal and Child Health, the Kinder and the Toy Library to support
Join in CB Mildura's outreach activities like Cuppa `n Yarn, the Volunteers group, and other local initiatives whenever they can, helping build stronger community connections.
Help connect families with CB Mildura's outreach groups, such as Cuppa `n Yarn, Volunteers group, and other local initiatives, and strengthen links for Red Cliffs with broader CB Mildura programs.
Work closely with the Connected Beginnings Team to promote events happening at the Red Cliffs Hub and around Red Cliffs.
Participating in regular CB team catch-ups and other activities to stay connected and supported.
The Welcomer may also take part in community events and other CB Mildura activities as needed.

Mildura Primary School No. 2915 is one of four large primary schools in the Mildura Rural City Council local government area. The school currently serves a student enrolment of about 355.
