Mount Clear College is a co-educational Years 7 to12 school nestled in a beautiful bush setting adjoining the Woowookarung Regional Park, just six minutes from the heart of Ballarat. Although student enrolments are approximately 1,000 our focus it to combine the caring, student-centred approach of a small school with the philosophy of providing high-quality educational opportunities, stimulating and challenging every student to achieve personal excellence in their chosen pathways.

Selection Criteria
KSC1: Demonstrated capacity to perform duties consistent with established guidelines and frameworks, including coordinating and supporting others in respect to specific work functions relevant to the role
- Proven ability to implement and support individualised plans such as IEPs, Student Support Plans, behaviour support plans etc in accordance with the Department of Education Victoria guidelines and the schools policies.
- Experience in supporting the delivering of targeted interventions and support programs for students with diverse learning needs.
- Ability to assist in the documentation of student progress, ensuring compliance with legal and educational requirements.
KSC2: Demonstrated capacity to work and collaborate with others in a team environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals to develop and implement support strategies.
- Experience in fostering a team culture that values inclusivity, shared responsibility, and collective problem-solving.
- Ability to contribute constructively to team meetings, sharing insights and expertise to enhance student outcomes.
KSC3: Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively in a team environment, including high level oral and written communication skills
- Sound oral communication skills, demonstrated through effective interactions with students, parents, and staff, including the ability to convey information in a clear and supportive manner.
- High level written communication skills, including the ability to, document student progress, and maintain accurate records.
- Experience using various communication platforms and tools to facilitate information sharing and collaboration within the school community. E.g Compass, emails
KSC4: Possess the technical knowledge and expertise relevant to the position
- Knowledge of and experience with assistive technology, digital learning tools, and educational software used to support students with additional needs.
- Understanding of strategies and practices and the ability to apply them in the classroom to support diverse learners.
- Experience in using school management systems (e.g., Compass) and other digital platforms to track student progress effectively.
KSC5: Demonstrated capacity to provide advice and support to management and other school staff in respect to the work area
- Ability to support teachers and school leaders to development and implement strategies to support student engagement, learning, and wellbeing.
- Ability to advocate for the needs of students.
- Proven understanding of and applying school policies and student support strategies.

Role
1. Student Support and Engagement:
- Assist in the implementation of individualised Education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans in accordance with school and departmental guidelines.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring their participation and engagement in classroom/educational activities
- Utilise strategies and assistive technology to support students academic and social-emotional development.
2. Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Work collaboratively with teachers, Inclusion team, wellbeing staff, and external professionals to implement support strategies for students.
- Actively participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions regarding student progress, strategies, and interventions.
- Foster a positive team culture that values inclusivity, shared responsibility, and collective problem-solving.
- Attend and contribute to Student Support Group meetings
3. Communication and Documentation:
- Maintain clear and accurate records of student progress, including documentation of observations and outcomes.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff, conveying information in a clear and professional supportive manner.
- Utilise various communication platforms and tools to facilitate information sharing and collaboration within the school community.
4. Technical Knowledge and Expertise:
- Use assistive technology, digital learning tools, and educational software to support student learning and wellbeing.
- Apply knowledge, strategies and practices in the classroom to support students with additional learning needs.
- Experience in using school management systems (e.g., Compass) and other digital platforms to monitor and report on student progress.
5. Advice and Support:
- Provide informed advice to teachers and school leaders on strategies to support student engagement, learning, and wellbeing.
- Advocate for the needs of students and contribute to the development of strategies
- Understanding and apply school policies and student support strategies.
6. Professional Development:
- Engage in ongoing professional learning and development, including participation in workshops, training sessions, and professional learning.
- Set professional goals and actively pursue opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in student support.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include:
- Provides routine support for teachers including assisting with planning of student routines
- Supports communication between teachers and parents
- Communicates with teachers on routine matters related to students and/or other responsibilities
- Provides basic physical care and wellbeing support for students such as toileting, meals, and lifting
- Communicating with student/s to support comprehension of basic tasks and information
- Addresses immediate behavioural presentations relating to specific students within a classroom setting aligned to school policy and procedure
- Provides basic support and supervision for individuals or groups of up to 4 students within a classroom setting
- Supports teachers in the coordination of educational programs independently or under minimal supervision, including rostering and organising the work of a team of aides, providing routine co-ordination, guidance, and support to other student support staff, liaising with external providers of support services about clearly defined support needs and resources, assisting teachers with the communication of student outcomes and educational programs
- Provides medical intervention support to a student/s, under specific conditions, with appropriate training and guidance
- Provides specialised communication support for students and teachers in areas such as AUSLAN and braille
