Donnybrook Primary School opened in January 2023 and is located in Donnybrook, 32 kilometres north of Melbourne. We have a current enrolment of 516 students across 24 classes from Foundation to Grade 6 and anticipate an enrolment in excess of 650 students for the beginning of 2026. We are located in a new residential estate on an expansive 3.5 hectare site, just a short walk from the popular Gumnut Park and Adventure Playground. Our school is surrounded by an engaged, vibrant, supportive community. Donnybrook Primary School is already developing close ties to the local community, with strong support from local organisations and community services.
Our school is culturally and linguistically diverse with many families with a language background other than English (LOTE). We are a proud, diverse, and inclusive school community. Position is for 3 days per week 8.45am until 3.15pm (6 hours per day) plus 30 minutes unpaid break.
SC1 : Demonstrated ability to support learning and engagement of a range of students with additional needs, including those with intellectual disabilities, and language or developmental delays.
SC2 : Demonstrated ability to support student safety and positive behaviour, including understanding:
- functions of behaviour
- triggers for challenging behaviours
- strategies to respond to behavioural challenges.
SC3 : Demonstrated skills working with neurodiverse children to support their learning and engagement.
SC4 : Demonstrated experience collaborating and problem-solving in a team environment, including excellent communication skills.
SC5 : Demonstrated alignment with Donnybrook Primary School's four values; including but not limited to, professional growth (ambition) and an understanding of confidentiality in an education support role (integrity).
An education support class position at this range will perform tasks that are carried out in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction. This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students but must not include duties of a teacher as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students can be required individually or in groups up to 4 in controlled circumstances and where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
Certification and/or qualifications of up to three years can be required at this level (noting that Registered Nurse is not included at this level, the first level for which is Level 1 range 3).
A role at this range may include:
An education support class position at this range commencing at the base will initially be limited to undertaking routine tasks that are carried out under close supervision and direction. Work that carries some degree of independence will generally involve a limited number of tasks performed on a regular basis where priorities are clear, procedures are well established, and direction is readily available. Subject to any specific qualification and/or training requirement, an education support class employee employed in this range may be progressively required to undertake coordination, specialised student/teacher support tasks, or technical tasks as experience in the role is gained.
