An education support class position at this range will perform tasks that are carried out in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction. This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students but must not include duties of a teacher as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students can be required individually or in groups up to 4 in controlled circumstances and where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
Certification and/or qualifications of up to three years can be required at this level (noting that Registered Nurse is not included at this level, the first level for which is Level 1 range 3).
A role at this range may include:
An education support class position at this range commencing at the base will initially be limited to undertaking routine tasks that are carried out under close supervision and direction. Work that carries some degree of independence will generally involve a limited number of tasks performed on a regular basis where priorities are clear, procedures are well established, and direction is readily available. Subject to any specific qualification and/or training requirement, an education support class employee employed in this range may be progressively required to undertake coordination, specialised student/teacher support tasks, or technical tasks as experience in the role is gained.

Natimuk Primary School is located in a rural township 25kms west of Horsham and 326kms west of Melbourne. Horsham is our main town centre with Ballarat only 2.5 hours away. The school draws its students from the town of Natimuk, which has a population of approximately 450, and the surrounding district. The majority of students travel to school by the departmental bus service; others walk or ride their bike/scooter.
The community of Natimuk is diverse and has been strongly influenced by its proximity to the famous landmark, Mt. Arapiles. We are fortunate to have a broad range of artistic talent and an environmental awareness that has brought Natimuk fame through its initiatives, innovations and community dedication.
Natimuk Primary School has a current enrolment of 25 students. We offer specialist programs such as Physical Education, Science, Library via the Mobile Library program as well as our own school library, Japanese, Music and Art. We have small multi-age classrooms and can provide intervention in Literacy and Numeracy and Speech & Language Therapy programs. Extra curricula activities include swimming, athletic sports, sports events, camps, excursions, incursions, Book Week, charity fundraisers, Meals on Wheels, Nati Frinj, rock climbing, agricultural show and the end of year Christmas/school concert. Senior students take on leadership roles by being on the Junior School Council, as School Captains and House Captains.
The school has a magnificent outlook with paddocks and farming to the east, an immaculate town oval to the south, Mt. Arapiles and town centre to the west and a rebound rubber playing area and huge expanse of ground and play equipment to the north. Our work space consists of a multipurpose room, a large room for Prep to 2 children, a library and 3-6 classroom combined, a music room, a resource room, an interview room, an art room, a shelter shed/wet day area, a sports shed, a maintenance shed and, an office and staff room.
The school is supported by a proud, enthusiastic and very committed School Council and Parent Association who work tirelessly to provide the extras to support the school¿s curriculum programs. They ensure the facilities and ground, the finances, curriculum and administration all work towards the needs of the students and ensure the provision of a safe and engaging environment. They care for the school community and the staff and are willing to promote the school in any forum to encourage enrolments.
