About the roles
The Economist plays a key role in supporting the commission’s Economics and Insights function by using economic research and data analysis to inform its regulatory work. The role contributes to better outcomes for Victorian consumers and the effective regulation of energy markets.
In these roles, you will work across a range of projects, analyse large and complex datasets and turn research and data into clear insights. You will primarily use R, but may also use advanced Excel, SQL, git, neovim, and Python. You will collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders, coordinate analytical work and communicate complex findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
These roles provide the opportunity to strengthen your applied economics, data analysis and project delivery skills while contributing to new approaches to research and data. A tertiary qualification in economics, data or a related discipline is required. Knowledge of energy markets would be highly advantageous.
There are two positions available. Both are fixed term. One is for twelve-months, the other is eight months.
The work location for this position is 570 Bourke Street, Melbourne, with hybrid work arrangements available.
