The Disability Inclusion (DI) Teacher supports the implementation of the Victorian Government's Disability Inclusion reforms by coordinating the
Disability Inclusion Profile (DIP) process and assisting the school to provide effective educational programs for students with disability and additionalneeds.
This is a non-classroom teaching position with a primary focus on coordinating Disability Inclusion processes, supporting students with complex learning and behavioural needs, andworking collaboratively with staff, families and external professionals to ensure students receive appropriate adjustments, support and Disability Inclusion funding.
Coordinate the school's Disability Inclusion Profile (DIP)process in accordance with Department of Education policies and timelines.
Identify students who may be eligible for Disability Inclusion funding and work with school leadership to prioritise referrals.
Organise, prepare for and facilitate Disability Inclusion Profile meetings, including coordinating the attendance of families, school staff and Department facilitators.
Collect, analyse and prepare evidence, assessments, reports and supporting documentation required for Disability Inclusion Profiles.
Work collaboratively with teachers, Education Support staff, Student Support Services, allied health professionals and external agencies to gather information and
implement recommendations.
Build positive relationships with students and families to support engagement throughout the Disability Inclusion process.
Provide direct support and guidance for students with complex behavioural, social, emotional and learning needs as required.
Assist teachers to develop and implement reasonable adjustments, Individual Education Plans (IEPs), behaviour support strategies and inclusive classroom practices.
Monitor Disability Inclusion funding allocations and support the implementation of funded adjustments and interventions.
Maintain accurate confidential records and ensure compliance with Department requirements.
Contribute to Student Support Group (SSG) meetings and other multidisciplinary planning meetings.
Work collaboratively with the Principal, Assistant Principal, Wellbeing Team and teaching staff to build the school's capacity to support students with disability and additional needs.
Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
