The Disability Inclusion Leader (DIL) provides strategic and operational leadership to strengthen inclusive education practices across the school. The DIL leads and coordinates disability inclusion processes aligned with the Victorian Department of Education¿s Disability Inclusion reform, ensuring students with disability and diverse learning needs are supported through evidence-informed planning, reasonable adjustments, and collaborative practice.
The DIL works closely with school leadership, classroom teachers, Education Support staff, allied health professionals, and families to embed inclusive practices, support quality Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and coordinate Disability Inclusion Profile processes and outcomes.
Leading teachers will be highly skilled classroom practitioners and undertake leadership and management roles commensurate with their salary range. The role of leading teachers is to improve the skill, knowledge and performance of the teaching workforce in a school or group of schools and to improve the curriculum program of a school.
Typically, leading teachers are responsible for coordinating a number of staff to achieve improvements in teaching and learning which may involve the coordination and professional support of colleagues through modelling, collaborating and coaching and using processes that develop knowledge, practice and professional engagement in others.
Leading teachers are expected to lead and manage a significant area or function within the school with a high degree of independence to ensure the effective development, provision and evaluation of the school's education program.
Leading teachers will be expected to make a significant contribution to policy development relating to teaching and learning in the school. A leading teacher has a direct impact and influence on the achievement of the school goals.
Leading teachers are usually responsible for the implementation of one or more priorities contained in the school strategic plan.
1. Disability Inclusion Leadership - Lead and champion whole-school disability inclusion practices aligned with Department policy and the Disability Inclusion reform. This includes promoting a culture of high expectations, belonging, and participation for all learners.
2. Disability Inclusion Profile (DIP) Coordination - Coordinate Disability Inclusion Profile processes to ensure meetings, evidence and outcomes are managed effectively and on time.This includes supporting staff and families to prepare, participate and implement recommended adjustments.
3. Student Support Planning (IEPs & Adjustments) - Lead and support consistent, high-quality Individual Education Plans and documented reasonable adjustments across the school. This includes monitoring implementation and reviewing supports based on student progress and needs.
4. Staff Capability and Professional Learning - Build staff capability in inclusive practice through coaching, modelling and targeted professional learning. This includes strengthening differentiation, Universal Design for Learning and practical classroom strategies.
5. Collaboration and Team-Based Practice - Work collaboratively with leadership, staff and allied professionals to coordinate a shared approach to student support. This includes improving consistency of practice and communication across teams.
6. Family and Student Partnership - Partner with families and students to ensure planning is strengths-based, respectful and centred on student voice. This includes supporting clear communication and effective Student Support Group processes.
7. Data, Documentation and Compliance - Maintain accurate records and use evidence to guide inclusion planning, reporting and decision-making. This includes ensuring confidentiality and compliance with Department and school requirements.
8. Resource and Funding Support - Support leadership to plan and prioritise resources that align with student needs and Disability Inclusion outcomes. This includes assisting with implementation tracking and evaluation of supports.

Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

Kilmore Primary School is located in Lancefield Road, Kilmore; a historic rural town 58km north of Melbourne. Kilmore is a semi-rural area comprising of small farm holdings, new housing estates and a well-established older town centre. There are approximately 500 students enrolled at the school this year. Our school has 38.39 equivalent full-time staff. We have 25 classrooms operating in the school.
