What is your understanding of the standards and how can you support the implementation in your role?
The Disability & Inclusion Admin Student Support Services plays a key role in supporting students through transition to Doncaster Secondary College. Supports students, staff and families to engage with the disability and inclusion initiative, providing support to the school-based teams to assist students with working towards their learning goals.
To do this they work collaboratively with the school¿s Disability and Inclusion Leader, Mini School staff, wellbeing staff and allied health team. They also work collaboratively with services/teams outside school, which may include Health and Wellbeing Inclusion Workforces, liaising with Student Support Services key contacts and external therapists. The student support services can include supporting the mini school leaders with preparing supporting documentation, maintaining accurate records, coordinating small group programs and supporting individual student intervention.
Support the coordination and a contact for organisation a Disability Inclusion Profile meeting. Documenting the resources from reports and assessments to assist teachers with accessing guidance around reasonable adjustments for an individual student and cohorts of students.
Typical duties
Be an advocate and champion for students with disability and additional needs and work with school staff to implement strategies for supporting the education of these students
play a key role in supporting students with disability and additional needs to make a smooth transition to school, ensuring there is communication and documentation for an efficient transfer of information between services and schools
Support the documentation of individual education plans (IEPs) across the school, and share the resources for students with an IEP
Assist students with having a voice in setting learning targets during the IEP process
Register students who require a profile meeting
Respond to any requests from facilitators for additional information
Ensure Disability Inclusion profile meetings are booked for all students who require profile meetings
Support school staff with preparation for SSG¿s
Support the organisation and delivery of small group programs for Disability & Inclusion students
Prepare and gather supporting documentation including in preparation for Disability Inclusion profile meetings
Liaise with the school¿s Student Support Services key contact as required
Where required support staff with early screening with learner and career profiling
Where required, support the most appropriate school staff to prepare the student and parent(s)/carer(s) to contribute to Disability Inclusion profile meetings
