The Opportunity
The Director, VTP is responsible for ensuring Victoria's transmission planning products, including the Victorian Transmission Plan (VTP), Victorian Annual Planning Report (VAPR) and other strategic planning publications, are delivered to a high standard, supported by robust project governance and effectively communicated across government, industry and community stakeholders. This role translates planning outputs into coordinated programs of work, engagement activities and implementation pathways.
The role ensures planning outcomes are understood, supported and capable of informing government decision-making, industry investment and future infrastructure development.
What you will deliver
- Lead the delivery and governance of VicGrid's long-term transmission planning program, including the Victorian Transmission Plan (VTP), Victorian Annual Planning Report (VAPR) and other strategic planning publications.
- Develop and maintain integrated planning schedules, governance frameworks and delivery roadmaps.
- Coordinate planning program activities across multiple teams, ensuring technical, policy, engagement and government workstreams remain aligned.
- Monitor program performance, risks, dependencies and delivery milestones, providing regular reporting and advice to senior executives.
- Lead the socialisation and communication of transmission planning outcomes across industry, government agencies and other stakeholders.
- Ensure robust application of program management disciplines, including planning, scheduling, risk and issue management, and benefits realisation.
What you will bring
- A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Infrastructure Planning, Public Policy, Project Management, Economics, Business, Environmental Planning or a related discipline is required.
- Extensive experience leading complex strategic infrastructure planning programs within government, energy, utilities, transport or major infrastructure sectors.
- Proven leadership in delivering complex, large-scale infrastructure planning, policy, and investment programs, particularly within energy transition, transmission, or other networked asset environments.
- Extensive experience developing and overseeing system-wide strategies and planning frameworks.
