As a member of the Price Monitoring and Regulation (PMaR) leadership team, the Director, Victorian Default Offer (VDO) and Ports, holds specialist responsibility for the Commission's work on the VDO and regulation of the Port of Melbourne. The Director also contributes to divisional leadership, helping to shape and deliver strategic priorities across the team.
Key responsibilities:
The Commission determines the VDO annually through a public consultation and pricing determination process. The Director leads the development and delivery of the VDO decision, ensuring high-quality analysis, timely delivery, and effective engagement with stakeholders across government and the energy sector.
The Director also oversees regulation of prescribed services at the Port of Melbourne. This includes five-yearly inquiries into compliance with the pricing order and land rent processes, annual tariff compliance reviews, and the assessment of complaints and competitive tenders. The role involves close collaboration with port stakeholders and relevant government agencies to ensure robust regulatory outcomes.
The Director provides leadership across the PMaR division, with direct performance management responsibility for project managers working on VDO and port-related projects. Operating within a flexible, pooled resourcing model, the role enables strategic staff allocation to optimise capability, support professional development, and manage regulatory workflows aligned with sector priorities.
