SES-1 Director, Strategy and Regulatory Policy
An exciting opportunity exists to apply for the fixed term role of Director, Strategy and Regulatory Policy.
Early Childhood Strategy Division (ECSD) is a small and influential strategic policy unit that leads strategic policy design projects for the broader Early Childhood Education group. Recent projects have included supporting the establishment of an independent ECEC regulator, the Out of Home Care Agreement Review, developing a kindergarten enrolment-based funding model, supporting the department's response to the Productivity Commission's ECEC Inquiry and Commonwealth Government ECEC commitments.
The Director, Strategy and Regulatory Policy, will be responsible for the strategic and administrative relationship between the Department and the new, independent Early Childhood regulator, as well as broader early childhood strategic issues.
The role combines legislative, cabinet, budget and administrative implementation experience with strategic oversight, and is a critical function ensuring the new independent regulator is enabled to operate effectively, in accordance with government and public expectations, and in such a way that the relationship with the Department is appropriately maintained.
The role is a critical part of Government's response to the Rapid Child Safety Review, and reports to the Executive Director, Early Childhood Strategy.
