The Opportunity
The Director, Safety Operations is a critical role supporting the project Delivery team. Key responsibilities will include stakeholder relationship management and provision of highly influential expert advice in accordance with relevant legislative requirements, policies and procedures. The position is required to contribute to the overall strategy for VicGrid, champion people and industry initiatives that support project delivery, model the organisations values and maintain OHS principles that foster a strong safety culture.

What you will deliver
• Active leadership and the development and coaching of staff, creating, and championing a positive and proactive safety-first culture across VicGrid.
• Provide robust strategic and influential Health and Safety advice to the Executive Director, Project Delivery and the wider organisation to effectively manage legislative requirements for VicGrid's delivery objectives.
• Develop and implement innovative effective safety management systems and procedures, establish and lead contractor safety forums and embed a comprehensive assurance program.
• Maintain a holistic view of the program, proactively engaging with, and influencing, necessary internal and external stakeholders to maximise successful program delivery and to adopt best practice safety initiatives and procedures.
What you will bring
• Extensive experience leading and managing a Health and Safety function on large scale complex energy, engineering, or construction infrastructure projects, with a strong track record working effectively with a broad range of project contractors and stakeholders is required.
• Extensive experience establishing and implementing cutting edge safety management systems and procedures is required.
• Exceptional working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and other associated legislative requirements is mandatory.
Preferred candidates will be required to undertake pre-employment screening, including a Declaration and Consent form and a National Police Check.
