The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digisting our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
About the role
The Director, Registration, Information and Records Policy provides both strategic and operational leadership across critical policy domains, including life event registration, worker screening, government identity frameworks, and public records. The roles drives a forward-looking program of work to ensure these frameworks remain contemporary, effective, and trusted, while delivering authoritative advice to the Minister, Secretary, and Executive on complex policy, legal and regulatory government services matters.
The position also oversees operational policy settings for Births, Deaths and Marriages, and provides advice on government services to support customer-focused service delivery and compliance with privacy and integrity requirements. Operating in a fast-evolving environment with digital and customer service excellence objectives applied across all streams of work, the Director supports Victoria's representation in intergovernmental forums, leads the state's contribution to national digital identity initiatives, and forges strong relationship with regulators, partner agencies, and stakeholders to advance reform and uphold public trust.
