About the Victorian Early Childhood Regulatory Authority (VECRA)
The Victorian Early Childhood Regulatory Authority (VECRA) is the statutory authority responsible for regulating early childhood education and care services in Victoria. VECRA works to ensure the safety, wellbeing and development of children through effective regulation, compliance, quality assessment and continuous improvement across the early childhood sector.
The Victorian Early Childhood Regulatory Authority (VECRA) is responsible for the regulation and quality assessment of Victorian early childhood education and care services to ensure the safety, wellbeing, and developmental outcomes of children across Victoria.
VECRA regulates approximately 5,000 services including family day care, outside school hours care, long day care and kindergarten programs, as required by the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010 (National Law). VECRA also regulates services operating under the Victorian Children's Services Act 1996 (Children's Services Act); these include occasional care and limited hours services.

About the Role
The Victorian Early Childhood Regulatory Authority is seeking an experienced and collaborative Director Regional Operations.
The Director of Regional Operations will be responsible for ensuring Authorised Officers are equipped to exercise their powers consistently, confidently, and in accordance with legislative requirements and VECRA's regulatory position statement.
The Director will be a critical member of VECRA's Executive Management Group and engage constructively and collaboratively across all parts of VECRA.
The role is based in Melbourne CBD and regular travel across Victoria will be a critical and expected part of the role.
The Director, Regional Operations is responsible for leading VECRA's frontline regulatory operations across designated regions and ensuring the effective delivery of regulatory services under the National Quality Framework and relevant education and care services legislation.
The role provides strategic and operational leadership for regional regulatory teams responsible for service oversight, regulatory monitoring, quality assessment activities, complaints management, incident response, provider engagement, and regulatory interventions. The Director ensures regulatory activities are risk-based, consistent, child-centred, and aligned with VECRA's regulatory objectives.
As a member of the Executive Management Group, the Director contributes to organisational strategy, regulatory effectiveness, and the continuous improvement of regulatory services across the early childhood education and care sector.
