The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Director, Project Delivery to provide a critical role within Enterprise Technology Services.
About the Business Unit
Enterprise Technology Services is an internal technology group within the Department of Justice and Community Safety, responsible for planning, delivering, and maintaining the technology systems and services that support the department's day-to-day operations. The group works closely with business units across the department to understand their needs and ensure they have access to reliable, fit-for-purpose technology solutions. This includes setting the department's long-term technology direction, identifying and adopting new and emerging technologies that improve how the department operates, designing and planning technology systems, managing technology projects from inception to completion, supporting the applications and tools staff rely on, and overseeing the financial management of technology investments.
About the Role
The role leads the project delivery group in the successful delivery of major programs and projects by providing strategic direction, strengthening governance, and driving continuous improvement. You'll build strong relationships with stakeholders and delivery partners, foster a high-performing and innovative team culture, and manage complex delivery environments to achieve outstanding organisational outcomes. This role requires a collaborative leader who can navigate high-risk issues, champion best practice, and deliver measurable business value through effective project and program leadership.
Some of your duties will include:
- Lead and support a high-performing project delivery workforce, including capability development, coaching and performance management, ensuring an accountable and collaborative culture across the function and within ETS.
- Oversee program or portfolio project performance to ensure delivery milestones, quality standards, benefits and intended outcomes are achieved within agreed scope, timeframes and budget, acting as an escalation point for major projects when required.
- Build and foster relationships with internal business partners and external service providers, to ensure projects are delivered and managed within specified or agreed performance parameters.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated extensive expertise in leading complex project and program delivery, including the development of delivery strategies, oversight of interdependent workstreams, and achievement of outcomes within scope, timeframes, budget and quality expectations.
- Strong ability to understand, simplify and explain to others, complex concepts and processes associated with corporate processes such as those involved in financial management, procurement, human resource management and document/records management.
- Demonstrated expertise in leading implementation and transition activities across complex stakeholder environments, including business readiness, executive engagement, issue resolution and the realisation of intended project benefits.
- Demonstrated high-level expertise in p
roject governance, assurance and control frameworks, including the management of strategic risks, issues and dependencies, and the provision of authoritative advice and reporting to senior executives and governance bodies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead expert and senior staff through organisational change and the adoption of alternative ways or working, particularly project and program delivery teams to foster a high-performance and collaborative culture.
Qualifications/requirements
- A relevant tertiary qualification in business, management, project management, public administration or a related discipline is highly desirable.
- Postgraduate qualifications and/or recognised certifications in project, program or portfolio management would be well regarded.
