About us
The Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) serves the government by providing leadership in economic, financial and resource management. We influence outcomes that can have a real impact on people’s lives. We strive for excellence in financial and economic management to improve the lives of all Victorians. We value our people and motivate them to lead, influence, collaborate and innovate.
Portfolio Analysis Group
The Portfolio Analysis (PA) Group sits within the Budget and Finance Division of DTF, which leads the development of financial policy advice to the Government and the Victorian public sector– including resource allocation and departmental performance, financial reporting frameworks, and the State’s budget position.
The Group leads advice on resource allocation. We provide policy and funding advice to support decision making on policies and programs across government, monitor department performance, and promote sound management of the State's fiscal resources.
About the role
As Director of the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) team in Portfolio Analysis, you will be the key relationship manager within DTF on portfolio funding and financial matters for DTP and the Victorian Auditor-General’s Office.
You will lead advice to senior management, the Treasurer and Minister for Finance on the application of the Integrated Management cycle for these portfolios, as outlined in the State’s Resource Management Framework (available at Resource Management Framework | dtf.vic.gov.au at). This includes advice on investment as part of the annual State budget and other government decision making processes, and financial management consistent with Victorian financial management legislation and policy.
You will work closely with colleagues across DTF, including in Infrastructure Division (which provides advice and assurance for the State’s capital program), supporting advice on the financial implications of major transport infrastructure projects and service contract arrangements.
You will lead a highly motivated and capable team of policy and public sector finance professionals, managing performance and development of approximately six to eight staff, and overseeing a dynamic and diverse range of team outputs. You will also contribute to broader executive leadership of fiscal strategy and operations, group management and culture.
