The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director, Commercial, the Director, Operations - Commercial is responsible for leading the operational development and delivery of VicGrid's commercial strategies, frameworks, systems and processes across the organisation and to support its multibillion-dollar portfolio of current and future energy infrastructure projects.
The role will have a strong focus on development and implementation, and provides operational leadership in the execution of commercial, contractual, financial and procurement strategies to support timely, transparent and value-driven outcomes. They will also align commercial operations with governance, assurance, risk frameworks, stakeholder requirements, and broader VicGrid objectives.
What you will deliver
• Provide operational and strategic leadership and expert advice on commercial, contractual, procurement, financial, and policy matters, ensuring risk-informed, value-driven outcomes across the organisation and VicGrid's programs.
• Support projects and programs in early-stage development by ensuring commercial readiness, facilitating smooth transitions to project delivery teams, and embedding effective commercial operations from the outset.
• Lead the development, implementation, and consistent application of commercial strategies, frameworks, systems, and processes to drive efficiency, ensure compliance, and align with VicGrid's strategic objectives.
What you will bring
• Proven expertise in developing and implementing complex commercial frameworks, including commercial and procurement strategies, contract management, supplier relationships, and operational processes to optimise efficiency and support organisational goals.
• Experience in leading cross-functional teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives to foster collaboration, innovation, and operational excellence across commercial and operational functions.
• Strong understanding of governance, risk management, and compliance processes, with the ability to align operations with regulatory requirements, organisational goals, and stakeholder expectations in a government or similar environment.
