The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
The Digital Platforms Division
The Digital Platforms division is responsible for management of citizen, Government and government technology platforms within DGS, Service Victoria technology oversite, solution architecture, cloud dev ops engineering and platform service management.
About the role
The Director, Government Technology Platforms leads the Government Technology branch within the Digital Platforms Division. This role is responsible for a portfolio of platforms that enable the delivery of government services across the Department of Government Services (DGS) and the broader Victorian Public Service.
Key responsibilities include oversight of software development, service management, and platform operations — including financial and HR systems, digital integration services, briefing and correspondence tools, and emerging Centres of Excellence. The Director leads cross-functional teams to deliver digital services that are user-centric, innovative, resilient, and aligned with community expectations and government priorities.
This is a strategic leadership role, responsible for setting the branch's vision, driving transformation, fostering platform innovation, and building capability. You will mentor and support managers, promote collaboration, and deliver internal platforms that improve service delivery and enable cost recovery or revenue generation where appropriate. A relevant tertiary or post graduate qualification in the digital/technological field is highly desirable.
