The Opportunity
The Director of Enterprise Risk & Resilience (Chief Risk Officer) will provide strategic leadership and oversight of VicGrid's risk, compliance, critical incident, business continuity, and internal audit functions. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and partnering closely with the Executive Leadership Team and Board, the role will champion a contemporary, forward-looking approach to risk that proactively identifies threats and opportunities across VicGrid's strategies and initiatives. As Chief Risk Officer, the position maintains a direct assurance reporting line to the CEO, Board and Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee.
What you will deliver
- Enable and empower the Risk & Resilience team to design and deliver strategic risk practices that support VicGrid's priorities.
- Lead implementation and annual review of the enterprise risk management (ERM) framework.
- Support the Board to define and refine risk appetite and tolerance settings.
- Develop VicGrid's resilience strategy, including business continuity and critical incident management frameworks.
- Oversee assurance activities, including internal audit, and lead monitoring and reporting of risk and resilience performance.
- Foster culturally safe environments where people feel valued, included and able to fully participate.
What you will bring
- Understanding of Australia's energy transition, transmission planning and renewable integration risks to inform strategic decisions.
- Experience working with Victorian Government agencies, applying VGRMF, governance obligations and energy-related regulatory requirements.
- Proven ability to design, embed and mature enterprise-wide risk frameworks, including governance, appetite and reporting structures.
- Experience delivering resilience programs, business continuity planning, scenario exercises and coordinated incident response.
- Strong senior-level engagement skills, able to translate complex risk concepts into clear advice and build a proactive risk culture.
- Experience supporting large-scale public sector change, including restructures, establishment activities and governance reform.
