About the role
South West Healthcare (SWH) is excited to invite applications for the role of Director of Emergency Medicine Training (DEMT). This pivotal leadership position involves overseeing and mentoring all Australian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM) trainees, as well as trainees from other colleges pursuing advanced Emergency Medicine skills at SWH.
As the DEMT, you will serve as the primary point of contact and advocate for ACEM trainees, providing expert supervision, constructive feedback, and unwavering support throughout their training journey. You will play a key role in shaping the next generation of Emergency Medicine specialists while maintaining a clinical practice with a minimum commitment of 0.5 FTE within our busy Emergency Department.

Position overview
What you bring
The successful applicant will be an experienced Emergency Medicine clinician with broad regional practice expertise, holding current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and at least three years post-fellowship as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Emergency Physicians (FACEM). The DEMT will hold a strong understanding of the FACEM training program, demonstrated skills in clinical education, mentoring, and assessing junior doctors, as well as effective communication, conflict resolution, and team-building abilities. The DEMT will also support trainees in exam preparation and contribute to maintaining department and hospital accreditation, ensuring high-quality supervision and alignment with South West Healthcare's values and training outcomes.
