The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Director, Criminal Law to provide a critical role within Justice Systems Coordination and Regulation.
About the Business Unit
Justice Systems Coordination and Regulation (JSCR) group supports the Attorney-General and DJCS Ministers to deliver court services policy, and civil and criminal law, responsibilities by providing legal, policy and stakeholder management expertise. We work collaboratively with key entities across the justice system and the department to ensure policy reform is strategic, relevant, holistic and people centred.
JSCR supports independent legal entities across the DJCS portfolio including Victoria Legal Aid, the Law Institute of Victoria, the Office of Public Prosecutions, Courts Services Victoria, VCAT, the Coronial Council of Victoria, the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine, and the Magistrates, Coroners, County, Supreme, and Children's Courts.
About the Role
The Director is a leader of the Criminal Law business unit. The role provides expert, specialist advice on criminal law matters and the development of policy and legislation. It is responsible for the day to day leadership and management of the business unit, including fostering career pathways and team member development. The Director is also responsible for leading the delivery of key policy and organisational projects.
