The Opportunity
The Director Connections Performance Standards is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of generator and large load performance standards and grid impact assessments, ensuring full compliance and supporting the Victorian Transmission Investment Framework. They will deliver technical advice and decisions to support the Access and Connections functions, ensuring reliable and compliant customer connection outcomes, assisting developers on technical solutions to advance their development and investment needs. A substantial part of the role will involve working closely with the Australian Energy Market Operator's (AEMO) Victorian Power System Analysis (PSA) division, which supports VicGrid to meet its Declared Shared Network obligations and also deliver on its objectives.
What you will deliver
• Play a critical role in shaping and delivering on VicGrid's vision, facilitating new renewable energy supplies, supporting investment and meeting the Victorian Access Regime objectives.
• Engage with industry and the community in ensuring acceptable renewable energy solutions.
• Guide and support generator and customer connection assessments, including negotiations and approvals, to ensure efficient and compliant connections.
• Provide decision-making on excessive curtailment assessments to mitigate network constraints and optimise generator network access in the right places.
• Support developers in technical solutions to optimise the connections process in line with VicGrid objectives.
• Identify and manage risks and opportunities associated with generator and customer performance and compliance both during hold-point testing and once operational.
What you will bring
• Prior experience in a leadership role overseeing generator and large load performance standards and grid impact assessments, ensuring full compliance.
• Extensive knowledge of the National Electricity Rules (NER), AEMO procedures and generator connection processes.
• Experience delivering technical advice which ensures reliable and compliant customer connection outcomes, and assist developers on technical solutions to advance their development and investment needs.
• Experience engaging with industry and the community in ensuring acceptable renewable energy solutions.
