THE ROLE
The Director, Aboriginal Statewide Coordination and Implementation has responsibility over the Aboriginal Statewide Coordination and Implementation Unit within the Aboriginal Policy, Reform and Accountability Branch. The Unit comprises of four area-based teams including North, South, East and West of Victoria.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Aboriginal Policy, Reform and Accountability, the Director is charged with supporting the division to implement and enable policy and initiatives which support Aboriginal Self-determination and improve outcomes for Aboriginal \ (Aboriginal) communities across the state.
The role is a critical conduit with Aboriginal communities and the organisation to support the division and department to:
The position will require a strong knowledge of Victorian Aboriginal cultures, Aboriginal self-determination, as well as proven highly developed leadership, negotiation, relationship building, written and communication skills. It will also require a strong understanding of public policy, the political environment in relation to Aboriginal Victoria, and the Victorian Government's commitment to advancing Aboriginal self-determination, Closing the Gap, Truth-telling and Treaty.
